‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ is Not Just a Scheme, It’s a People’s Movement: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

To raise awareness among farmers nationwide and bring agricultural reforms to the grassroots level, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA 2025).’ He described this campaign not merely as a government scheme but as a “people’s movement.”

In a virtual interaction held on Sunday, Minister Chouhan engaged directly with legislators from various states and said that this campaign is a decisive step toward making India’s agriculture climate-resilient, modern, and self-reliant.

One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team—The Campaign’s Core Mantra
The core mantra of this campaign is “One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team.” Under this initiative, teams formed in different states will visit villages to educate farmers about climate-friendly crops, organic farming, and modern agricultural techniques. These expert teams will also listen to farmers’ problems and provide on-the-spot solutions to ensure direct benefits in the upcoming Kharif season.

Started from Puri, Agricultural Awareness Wave Spreading Across the Country
The campaign, running from May 29 to June 12, 2025, was inaugurated in Puri, Odisha. It has now evolved into a nationwide movement, with the central government aiming to directly connect with 10 million farmers.

Why Did the Minister Call It a ‘People’s Movement’?
Shivraj Singh Chouhan said,
“This is not just a scheme; it is a resolution. It is a movement to reach out to farmers, make them self-reliant, connect them with technology, and raise awareness about organic farming. The country will develop only when the farmer develops.”

A Big Message for Farmers
This campaign is a concrete effort to implement government agricultural policies at the local level. It will not only provide farmers with new knowledge but also empower and motivate them to transform farming into a profitable business through their resources and hard work.
