On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed a strong message on environmental conservation, reiterating this timeless mantra. Extending greetings to the nation, he urged every citizen to intensify their efforts to protect the environment.
Today, PM Modi will lead a tree plantation drive under the ‘One Tree for Mother’ campaign at Bhagwan Mahavir Vanasthali Park in Delhi. This initiative is part of the ‘Aravalli Green Wall Project’ aimed at restoring the green cover of the 700-kilometer-long Aravalli mountain range.
The Prime Minister also shared a special video where he is seen planting trees himself. He emphasized that environmental balance has always held a central place in Indian tradition. He stated, “Everything we do for ourselves has a direct impact on the environment. Hence, it is essential that we rise above self-interest and act in the interest of global climate.”
On this occasion, PM Modi will also flag off 200 electric buses, a major step under Delhi government’s sustainable transport initiative, aimed at reducing urban pollution.
In his message, the Prime Minister also highlighted ‘Mission LiFE’ (Lifestyle for Environment), which has now evolved into a global people’s movement. He noted that India has been actively combating plastic pollution for years—an issue that has now taken center stage on the global agenda.
