Dr. K.A. Paul Files Urgent Supreme Court Appeal in Betting App Case; Demands Explanation for Delays Despite Justice Surya Kant’s Bench Orders

Global Peace Advocate Dr. K.A. Paul Slams Inaction on Illegal Betting Apps, Calls for Immediate Supreme Court Intervention to Protect India’s Youth.

Dr. K.A. Paul, renowned global peace leader and the petitioner pushing for a nationwide ban on illegal betting apps, has filed an urgent appeal with the Hon’ble Supreme Court, demanding expedited hearings and answers for repeated delistings despite clear directives from the bench of Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant and Justice Jomaliya Bagchi.

Dr. Paul highlighted that on August 1, 2025, the bench reserved its orders after issuing notices to the Centre and all state governments, fully recognizing the devastating toll of betting apps—fueling massive financial ruin and a surge in youth suicides. Yet, the case has been inexplicably delisted twice since then, with no justification provided.

“Is any issue more pressing than delivering justice to millions of Indian families who have lost their loved ones to these predatory platforms?” Dr. Paul questioned, calling on the judiciary to enforce accountability and act without further delay.

His petition demands stringent action against betting app operators and more than 1,100 celebrities accused of promoting them for profit. Among those named are Vijay Deverakonda, Manju Lakshmi, Rana Daggubati, and Sachin Tendulkar. Dr. Paul questioned how such influential figures could lend their credibility to platforms that have shattered countless lives.

He further insisted that all endorsement fees earned by these celebrities be seized and redirected to compensate affected families. Dr. Paul also held Google and Apple accountable for hosting illegal betting apps, stating: “If multinational giants wish to profit in India, they must comply with Indian laws.”

While commending the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Home Minister for responding to his petition by introducing legislation to curb online betting, Dr. Paul stressed that true justice remains elusive. “Parliament has moved, but victims still cry for relief. My 18 specific prayers to the Supreme Court are yet to be heard,” he declared, vowing to persist in this legal and ethical battle until full justice is achieved.
