3-level monitoring of trains

Indian Railways is closely monitoring over 12,000 special trains running during Diwali and Chhath at three levels. Those are Division, Zone, and Railway Board.

Train delays have been reduced to under three hours, and over 50 lakh more passengers have traveled compared to last year.

Overseeing operation daily

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar are overseeing operations daily.

The system tracks each train’s live location from departure to destination, allowing immediate action if a train stops at a non-scheduled station. This intensive monitoring has cut average delays dramatically; trains that previously ran 8–18 hours late now experience under three hours of delay.

So far, more than 10,700 special train trips have been completed, with only one train arriving six hours late.

Passengers arriving at Patna Junction for Chhath

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said this year’s crowd management is fully scientific, with passengers being assessed hourly in holding areas at each station.

Based on these assessments, special trains are dispatched from nearby stations according to passenger numbers.

While last year around 50 lakh people traveled on special trains, over 1 crore have already been transported this year.

Officials added that platform crowding has been largely eliminated through holding areas set up at 76 stations.
