On the fourth day of his hunger strike, Manoj Jarange warned the government over the demand for Maratha reservation.
Social activist Manoj Jarange is on hunger strike for the third day. He has demanded the Devendra Fadnavis government to issue a government resolution on Maratha reservation. Jarange said that the Maratha community is a sub-caste of the Kumbhis and they have 58 lakh records which show that the Marathas are related to the Kumbhis.
Social activist Manoj Jarange, continuing his hunger strike for the third consecutive day, strongly demanded the Devendra Fadnavis government to issue a government resolution (GR) on Maratha reservation based on the available records.
At the same time, the chairman of the cabinet sub-committee on Maratha reservation and Minister of State Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil will take legal advice on the issue and see if help can be taken from Hyderabad and Satara Gazette on the basis of Jarange's demand.
Jarange, who has been on hunger strike since Friday
Jarange, who has been on hunger strike at Azad Maidan since Friday, said, 'We will not leave the protest site until our demands are met, even if the Fadnavis government opens fire on us.' He said that 'Maratha community is a sub caste of Kunbi. Kunbi is an agriculture based caste which gets reservation benefits under Other Backward Class (OBC) category. 58 lakh records have been found which show that Marathas are linked with Kunbis. Those who want reservation will take it.'
He alleged that the Maharashtra government was wasting time on the Maratha reservation issue. Devendra Fadnavis had announced that he would give reservation to Dhangar community if he became the Chief Minister. Did he do it? He had said that agricultural loans will be waived. Did he do it? If you do not give us reservation, you will not win even a single gram panchayat seat.
Jarange said that people who were stopped from entering Mumbai will return but will ensure that your MPs and MLAs leave Maharashtra with their families. No one can stop Marathas from getting reservation under OBC quota.
