Mehul Choksi Extradition Preparations Intensify

India has intensified efforts for the extradition of Mehul Choksi, who is accused of a scam of Rs 12000 crore in Punjab National Bank. After his arrest in Belgium, India has assured to keep him in Arthur Road Jail according to human rights. India has written a letter to Belgium informing that all the necessary facilities will be provided to him.

Mehul Choksi's extradition has now become a big topic of discussion for India. This 66-year-old businessman is accused of a scam of Rs 12,000 crore in Punjab National Bank. After his arrest in Antwerp, Belgium, India has started vigorous efforts for extradition.

India has assured Belgium that Choksi will be kept in Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail according to human rights. But the question is, will Choksi really get the facilities there, which India is claiming?

India sent a letter to Belgium informing that Choksi will be kept in barrack number 12 of Arthur Road Jail. In this jail, he will be given a clean mat, pillow, bedsheet and blanket.

If medical need arises, a wooden or iron bed will also be provided. His lawyers say that Choksi has a serious disease like cancer, so special care will have to be taken of his health.

What facilities can be provided in jail?

India claims that Choksi will get clean water, 24-hour medical facility and good food in the jail. The jail will be cleaned daily and there will be full arrangement of light and air in the barracks.

He will be given more than an hour every day for walking outside, exercising and entertainment. Mumbai's weather remains normal throughout the year, so neither heating nor air conditioning is needed.

Talking about food in jail, Choksi will get food three times a day. If special diet is needed due to medical reasons, then that will also be given. There is a canteen in the jail, from where fruits and light snacks can be purchased. Apart from this, facilities like yoga, meditation, library and board games are also available. Choksi will also get an open courtyard to walk in the fresh air and play badminton.
