Another Setback for BJP in Tamil Nadu: Dinakaran Quits NDA

Ahead of assembly elections, T.T.V. Dinakaran has parted ways with the NDA, becoming the second party to leave the alliance in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu BJP News: Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections to be held in the year 2026, BJP continues to suffer setbacks. TTV Dhinakaran's party Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) has announced its exit from the BJP-led NDA alliance. On September 3, TTV Dhinakaran informed his party about separating from the BJP-led NDA alliance. AMMK is the second party to leave the NDA. Earlier, O Panneerselvam, expelled from the AIADMK, had pulled his party out of the alliance.

Giving information about the separation from the NDA alliance, AMMK party president TTV Dhinakaran said that this movement (AMMK) was started against the betrayal of some people. We believed that they would change, but nothing happened. Dhinakaran, once a staunch ally of the BJP, said that his party would take a decision on the new alliance in December after discussions with officials and workers.

In fact, the NDA in Tamil Nadu is led by the AIADMK. After breaking away in 2023, AIADMK has allied with BJP in April 2025. Dinakaran alleges that AIADMK, especially Palaniswami, opposed the inclusion of AMMK in the alliance. Dinakaran had expected Amit Shah to intervene, but nothing happened.

Former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam had recently left the BJP alliance. Now AMMK has also left. Due to the tussle between PMK's organizational leader Ramadas and leader Anbumani, it is not clear whether the party will remain in the BJP-led NDA alliance or not. DMDK is also in the same situation. In the state, Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) and TVK have confirmed that they will contest the elections independently. Dinakaran's move to exit the NDA and keep the options of alliance open is adding more stir to the political scenario of the state.

Tamil Nadu assembly elections to be held in 2026

Let us tell you that the Tamil Nadu assembly elections in 2026 is such an election. During a discussion with the media, Dinakaran said- We were eagerly waiting for Amma's workers to unite and give the right chief ministerial candidate in this election. We did not wait for anyone to be marginalized, did not do anything out of fear of anyone. The AMMK chief said- We hoped that Amma's workers would join us, and the people of Amma's party would make proper efforts for this. But when we saw them wandering from city to city, carrying their betrayal on their heads, we understood that now there is no way, there is no possibility of them changing.
