Assam Police accused of 171 fake encounters! Supreme Court gives big order

The country's top court has given a big decision on the 171 alleged fake encounter cases against Assam Police. The bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice N Kotiswar Singh has considered the matter serious and ordered a fair and thorough investigation. The court directed the Assam Human Rights Commission to issue a public notice to contact the victim families.

The court said, "The allegations that some incidents may be fake encounters are very serious and if proven, they will be considered a violation of the right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution. However, it is equally possible that after a fair and independent investigation, some cases are found to be legally justified and necessary." What is the whole matter?

The Supreme Court also clarified that every case should be looked at independently and it should be ensured that if any innocent has been killed, accountability can be fixed for it.
