BCCI Nixes India-Pak Series After Pahalgam Attack
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reaffirmed its stance of not engaging in bilateral cricket series with Pakistan until cross-border terrorism ceases. This decision follows the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 27 people, including 25 Indian tourists, were killed by militants linked to Pakistan-based groups .
Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur emphasized that the BCCI had previously decided against bilateral matches with Pakistan until terrorism ends, reflecting the sentiments of the nation .
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral cricket series since 2013, though they have faced each other in multilateral tournaments like the Asia Cup and ICC events. The BCCI's position underscores the broader diplomatic and security concerns influencing sporting ties between the two nations.
