Big Action by Dhami Government Against Corruption: 12 Officers Including 2 IAS Suspended in Haridwar Land Scam
Jagran Desk
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken strict action against top state administration officials involved in the Haridwar land scam. In this Rs 54 crore corruption case, 12 officers including the District Magistrate (DM), former Municipal Commissioner, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) have been suspended. This move sends a strong message of the state government’s zero-tolerance policy toward corruption.
The controversy erupted over the Haridwar Municipal Corporation purchasing inconsistent and cheap agricultural land near a garbage dump at inflated prices. The deal was done without transparency or proper procedures, exposing layers of corruption. Chief Minister Dhami ensured a thorough and impartial investigation and immediate action against corrupt officials.
Suspended officers include Haridwar’s DM Karmendra Singh, former Municipal Commissioner Varun Chaudhary, and SDM Ajayveer Singh, whose roles were found suspicious. Senior finance officers, administrative officers, and other staff have also been suspended. The Vigilance Department is investigating the entire case.
This action is not just a punishment for corruption but lays the foundation for reform and accountability in Uttarakhand’s administrative system. CM Dhami has made it clear that duty and public interest will be prioritized over position, power, or seniority. This step has instilled public confidence in strict action against corruption and serves as a warning to officials that no rule violations will be tolerated.
