BJP leader Navneet Rana gets death and gang-rape threats again: Letter from Hyderabad mentions PM Modi
Digital Desk
Former MP and BJP leader Navneet Rana has once again received death and gang-rape threats, this time through a speed post delivered to her Amravati office
According to police sources, the letter contained highly objectionable language and even mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name. Acting on the complaint filed by Rana’s personal assistant Mangesh Kokate at the Rajapeth Police Station, the Amravati Crime Branch swiftly reached her residence. An FIR has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
Letter traced to Hyderabad
Initial investigation has revealed that the letter was sent from Hyderabad, under the name “Javed.” Police teams from Amravati and Hyderabad are coordinating to trace the sender and determine the motive behind the threat.
Explicit threats and disturbing content
The letter reportedly included graphic and violent threats, mentioning acts of sexual assault “in front of her child” and warning of “serious consequences.” Authorities have classified the case as high priority, considering Rana’s history of receiving similar threats.
Not the first such incident
This is not the first time Navneet Rana has faced such intimidation. On October 12, 2024, she received another letter filled with vulgar threats and pro-Pakistan slogans. That letter, signed by someone calling himself “Aamir,” also referenced gang rape, cow slaughter, and even demanded a ₹10 crore ransom.
From actress to outspoken politician
Navneet Rana, a former film actress, has acted in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Punjabi films. She entered politics in 2014, contesting her first Lok Sabha election from Amravati on an NCP ticket, but lost.
In 2019, she won as an independent candidate, defeating Shiv Sena’s Anand Adsul. Later, she joined the BJP ahead of the 2024 general elections, but lost to Congress candidate Balwant Wankhede by 19,731 votes.
Investigation ongoing
Police are now tracing the letter’s source and potential connections to previous threats. Security around Navneet Rana has been tightened as authorities work to identify the sender and establish whether the threats are part of a larger pattern of intimidation.
