BJP Mourns Vijay Malhotra’s Demise

A wave of mourning swept through the BJP following the death of senior leader Vijay Malhotra. Prime Minister Modi, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, CM Rekha Gupta, and other leaders expressed deep grief over the loss.
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the first president of the Delhi BJP, Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, passed away on Tuesday morning at AIIMS in New Delhi. His death has sent shockwaves through the party. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over Malhotra's passing by posting on his X account. He offered condolences to his family.
PM Modi wrote on X:
"Deeply saddened by the passing of senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra, a lifelong public service devotee. He was a grassroots leader with a deep understanding of public issues. He played a key role in strengthening the party in Delhi. He will also be remembered for his active participation and contributions in Parliament. My deepest condolences to his family and well-wishers in this hour of grief. Om Shanti!"

Home Minister Amit Shah, on the passing of Vijay Kumar Malhotra, said, "I am deeply saddened by the passing away of senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra, who played a key role in shaping and expanding the organization from the Jan Sangh to the Janata Party and the BJP."
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh wrote on X:
Leaders like Professor Vijay Kumar Malhotra hold a special place in the history of the Jan Sangh and the BJP. He worked tirelessly to strengthen our party in Delhi. Widely respected for his knowledge of the Indian Constitution, he was an experienced parliamentarian who worked tirelessly.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta wrote on her X: "The passing away of Professor Vijay Kumar Malhotra, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, a guardian of all our workers, and the first president of the Delhi BJP, is a deeply painful and irreparable loss. From the Jan Sangh era to the founding of the BJP, his life was a living example of patriotism, organizational skills, and discipline. As the first president of the Delhi BJP, he strengthened the organization's foundation and showed countless workers the path of service and dedication." His passing has left a deep void within both the BJP family and social life.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote in a social media post, "The passing of senior BJP member Vijay Kumar Malhotra is deeply saddening. I pay my humble tribute to him. My condolences are with the bereaved family. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant salvation to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense loss."
Virendra Sachdeva said, "It is with great sadness that I inform you that senior BJP leader and first president of the Delhi BJP, Professor Vijay Kumar Malhotra, passed away suddenly this morning. He was 94 years old. Professor Vijay Kumar Malhotra's life was an example of simplicity and dedication to public service. He worked extensively to expand the ideology of the Sangh in Delhi since the Jan Sangh era. His life has always been and will continue to inspire all of us BJP workers."
According to the Delhi BJP, Vijay Kumar Malhotra has been actively involved in politics alongside Kedar Nath Sahni and Madan Lal Khurana. The party also credits him with keeping the BJP strong and active in Delhi for many years. "Vijay Kumar Malhotra's biggest political victory is considered to be the 1999 general elections, when he defeated former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh by a huge margin. He has served as a five-time MP and two-time MLA from Delhi over the past 45 years, making him one of the most senior BJP leaders in the capital.
