BJP nominates CP Radhakrishnan for Vice President, Nitish Kumar extends support
Digital Desk
The BJP has announced CP Radhakrishnan as its candidate for the post of Vice President. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has also come forward in his support, giving the NDA a stronger position in the upcoming election.
In the meeting of the Parliamentary Board held on Sunday, BJP declared Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as the candidate for the post of Vice President. As soon as his name was approved, it became clear that the party has changed its strategy and put forward a leader with a gentle and balanced image instead of a vocal leader like Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Radhakrishnan's style is different from Dhankhar
When Jagdeep Dhankhar was elected for the post of Vice President in the year 2022, he was selected with the aim of giving a special political message. Dhankhar was associated with the Congress for a long time and his image has been aggressive and confrontational. While being the Governor of Bengal, he also clashed with the Mamata Banerjee government many times.
JDU will support him
JDU has also welcomed this decision. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the decision of NDA to make Shri CP Radhakrishnan ji the candidate for the post of Vice President is welcome. JDU will support him. My best wishes to him.
Suitable for responsibility
On the contrary, CP Radhakrishnan is known as a calm, gentle and inclusive leader. The BJP believes that his balanced nature makes him suitable for a constitutional responsibility like the post of Vice President.
Attempt to strike a political balance in South India
Radhakrishnan comes from Tamil Nadu and belongs to the OBC category. The BJP's strategy is also that his name can give the party a political edge in South India, especially in states like Tamil Nadu. Assembly elections are to be held in Tamil Nadu in the next one and a half years. Also, due to his long association with the Sangh, Radhakrishnan is deeply connected to the ideology of the BJP.
