BRICS Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack, Unites Against Cross-Border Terrorism

The BRICS Parliamentary Forum has strongly condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, expressing solidarity with India and a collective resolve to combat terrorism. The attack, attributed to Lashkar-e-Taiba and The Resistance Front, has intensified international scrutiny of Pakistan's alleged support for cross-border terrorism. India has responded with diplomatic measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and expelling Pakistani diplomats. Global leaders and organizations have echoed the condemnation, urging accountability and coordinated efforts to counter terrorism.

The terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir is being strongly condemned internationally. The BRICS Parliamentary Forum held in Brasilia on Friday strongly condemned the attack and resolved to take united action against terrorism. This could be a significant setback for Pakistan, as this forum includes many Muslim countries along with China. Representatives from India, Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Ethiopia and Indonesia were present in this meeting, in which India was led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

In his address, Om Birla described terrorism as a global crisis, the solution of which is possible only through international cooperation. He emphasized the need for four important steps, including ending financial support to terrorist organizations, accelerating the process of sharing intelligence, preventing technical misuse and increasing cooperation in investigation and judicial processes. These things were accepted by all the countries present in the meeting and were included in the final declaration.
