CDS Anil Chauhan on Operation Sindoor: Modern Warfare Needs Modern Weapons
New Delhi
Commenting on Operation Sindoor, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan stated that "today's war cannot be won with yesterday's weapons," emphasizing the need for modernization and advanced technology in India's defense strategy.
Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, referring to the power of drones in recent conflicts, said that these small weapons can turn the tables in the war.
In his address at an event organized at the Manekshaw Center, General Chauhan also said that Operation Sindoor has shown why indigenous unmanned aerial systems (UAs) and C-UAS built for our territory and our needs are important.
He revealed how Pakistan used unarmed drones and loitering munitions during Operation Sindoor, but the Indian Army gave them a befitting reply.
General Chauhan also warned that dependence on foreign technology can weaken our strength.
Drones have become the most important weapon in the world. His statement made it clear that India will have to focus on indigenous technology to increase its strength.
Pakistan used drones but had to face defeat
General Chauhan said that on May 10, Pakistan used unarmed drones and loiter munitions. But none of these could harm the Indian army or civilian infrastructure. The Indian Army foiled these drones through kinetic and non-kinetic methods. This is a proof of the strength of India's defense preparations.
He also said that technology like drones has now become a game-changer in the battlefield. Small drones can dodge the enemy's strategy.
No reliance on foreign technology, indigenous strength is necessary'
The CDS warned that if we depend on foreign technology for important missions, our preparations may weaken. He said that India will have to develop its own technology so that there is no shortage on the battlefield.
He stressed, "Today's war cannot be won with yesterday's weapons. We have to fight today's war with tomorrow's technology."
