In the latest unrest in Manipur, escalating protests forced authorities to airlift the Governor to Raj Bhawan for safety. The volatile environment highlights ongoing tensions in the region.

 
 

Police fired tear gas shells on protesters protesting against the removal of the name Manipur from a bus in Manipur and stopped the rally. The protesters protested by forming a human chain. The governor reached Kangla Fort by helicopter due to the protest. Security forces arrested three militants on charges of extortion and seized illegal wood worth Rs 3.1 crore. The protesters are demanding an apology from the government.

Police on Monday also fired tear gas shells on people protesting against the removal of the state's name from a bus in Manipur and stopped them from taking out a rally. During this, the protesters demonstrated by forming a human chain.

An official said that the governor arrived in Imphal from New Delhi on Monday afternoon and went by army helicopter to reach Kangla Fort, located about 300 meters from the Raj Bhavan, in view of the protests. Bhalla went to Delhi from Manipur on May 21 for official work. Earlier, a large number of women and students gathered at Kwakeithel in Imphal West district and planned to take out a rally to the Raj Bhavan.
