The governor reached Kangla Fort by helicopter due to the protest. Security forces arrested three militants on charges of extortion and seized illegal wood worth Rs 3.1 crore. The protesters are demanding an apology from the government.

An official said that the governor arrived in Imphal from New Delhi on Monday afternoon and went by army helicopter to reach Kangla Fort, located about 300 meters from the Raj Bhavan, in view of the protests. Bhalla went to Delhi from Manipur on May 21 for official work. Earlier, a large number of women and students gathered at Kwakeithel in Imphal West district and planned to take out a rally to the Raj Bhavan.
