CM Rekha Gupta Announces Rehabilitation Plan for Slum Dwellers

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta assured proper rehabilitation for slum dwellers, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing safe housing and improved living conditions for all.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a plan to provide permanent housing to slum dwellers. She said that her government will ensure proper rehabilitation of eligible slum dwellers displaced due to development projects or other valid reasons, so that they can actively participate in the development of the capital. An official statement said that CM Gupta on Sunday visited a slum located near the railway crossing in Shalimar Bagh.
Indian Railways has issued a notice to remove the slum as it is located on railway land. This step has been taken due to the expansion of Azadpur railway station. CM Rekha Gupta said that the slum area was surveyed in 2020, but the Aam Aadmi Party government at that time neither took any decision nor communicated with the railways.
The Chief Minister informed that the government has started working on a scheme so that the residents do not face any difficulty. She also clarified that if the removal of slums is necessary due to development projects or other valid reasons, the government will arrange for proper rehabilitation for the eligible residents, so that they can join the development of Delhi.
'Not in favor of removing slums without any reason'
The Chief Minister said that when faced with a crisis, she came to meet the slum dwellers, as the Delhi government is not in favor of removing slums without any reason. Gupta assured that she will talk to the Railway Ministry and arrange for housing for the residents of the area. She also said that the Delhi government is committed to ensure complete justice in this matter.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that the citizens need not worry. She informed that the Delhi government has made a provision of crores of rupees in the budget for the development of slums. Whenever there is a need to remove slums, housing is arranged for deserving residents. Rekha Gupta also assured that the slum dwellers of Delhi will get full justice.
No development in Delhi slums in 40 years
He strongly criticized the previous AAP and Congress governments of the city and said that there has been no progress in the slums of Delhi in the last four decades. He alleged that these political parties saw slum dwellers only as vote banks and constantly tried to exploit them. Along with this, these parties also damaged the geographical structure of the city.
