Rahul Gandhi Old Tweet On GST Reform: Modi government has made many important changes regarding GST. Instead of 4, only two slabs of GST, 5% and 18%, have been approved. After this decision of the government, the people of the country have got a big relief from tax i.e. inflation. At the same time, Congress has joined the race to take credit for this decision of the government. Congress is sharing Rahul Gandhi's old tweet on GST on social media. Congress says that BJP realized its mistake after eight years, while Congress has been opposing it from the beginning.
Actually, many important changes have been made by the government regarding GST. All these changes will also be implemented in the whole country from September 22. The rules brought by the government regarding GST will provide a lot of relief to the common people.
According to the new rules, the rates of GST will now be only 5% and 18%. At the same time, the slabs of 12% and 28% have been abolished. Roti, milk-cheese, health-life insurance have been made tax free. There will be no tax on individual health and life insurance. 33 life saving medicines, medicines for rare diseases and serious diseases will also be tax free. From TV-AC to car, everything has become cheaper.
Now Congress leader Rahul Gandhi shared his old tweets, in which he had written that Congress will continue to fight for a single rate with 18% CAP. He had said that if BJP does not do this work, then Congress will show it by doing it. Rahul Gandhi shared such tweets on social media account in which one tweet is 8 years old and the other is 9 years old. In the tweet shared in 2017, it was written that India does not need Gabbar Singh Tax, but a simple GST. Congress and the people of the country have fought and got 28% tax on many items abolished. Our struggle for a single rate with 18% CAP will continue. If BJP does not do this work, then Congress will show it by doing it. At the same time, in the 2016 tweet, it was written that the limit of 18% on GST rate is in the interest of all.
P. Chidambaram targeted BJP
Congress leader P. Chidambaram said that I appreciate the government realizing its mistake after eight years. He said that for eight years BJP has squeezed the middle class and the poor. The Congress leader said that at that time we had advised that such a tax should not be imposed, but at that time neither the Prime Minister nor the ministers listened to us. He said that I also raised my voice in Parliament but to no avail. Chidambaram said that GST rates have been reduced from 12% and 18% to 5%.
GST Council is just a formality
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh shared a post on his social media saying that Congress has been advocating GST 2.0 for a long time. Targeting BJP, he said that before the GST Council meeting, PM Modi had talked about reducing GST rates on August 15. He questioned the BJP and said whether the GST Council has now become just a formality.
