Dr. Bhargav Mallappa Meets MoS Dr. Ramdas Athawale; People Forum of India to Strengthen Grassroots Initiatives in Maharashtra
New Delhi
Dr. Bhargav Mallappa, National Deputy Chairman of the People Forum of India (NBSS), met Dr. Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra, at his New Delhi office today.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the Forum’s mission to advance social justice at the grassroots level, with special emphasis on women’s empowerment, inclusive growth, and community welfare. Dr. Mallappa underscored the need for robust support systems for marginalised groups, stating, “Social justice should not remain confined to policy debates; it must translate into tangible, measurable improvements in the lives of women, youth, and disadvantaged communities. The People Forum of India is committed to bridging the gap between government programmes and ground realities.”
Dr. Athawale appreciated the Forum’s vision and approach, praising its model of integrating civic participation with policy execution. He noted that organisations like the People Forum of India play a vital role in ensuring that government welfare schemes reach the people who need them most.
Dr. Mallappa also outlined the Forum’s upcoming expansion in Maharashtra, where volunteers and coordinators will be mobilised to spread awareness about social justice initiatives and women-centric programmes. He added, “Our work in the state will prioritise self-reliance, dignity, and equal opportunity for all sections of society.”
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to collaboration between government and people-driven organisations, recognising that such partnerships are essential to making social justice and empowerment programmes more effective and impactful at the community level.
