Dr. Bhimrao Y. Ambedkar Graces Historic Launch of Bahujan Media Association of India – A Fierce New Powerhouse for Marginalised Voices, Led by Industry Titan Girish Wankhede

On the momentous 106th anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s trailblazing newspaper Mooknayak, the Bahujan Media Association of India roared into existence at Dr. Ambedkar Bhavan, Dadar East.

In a double-barrelled strike for justice, the day also witnessed the birth of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Advocate Association of India. Dr. Bhimrao Y. Ambedkar was unanimously declared Chief Patron of both organisations, while the formidable Girish Wankhede – battle-hardened film trade analyst, exhibitor, marketing strategist and unapologetic voice of cinematic truth – was installed as National President of the Bahujan Media Association of India.

This is no ordinary media body. It is a declaration of war on decades of distorted, neglected and outright erased narratives of Bahujan communities. For the first time, independent publications, fearless news portals, writers, journalists, YouTubers and digital warriors who have long chronicled the struggles, aspirations and triumphs of the marginalised are uniting under one unstoppable banner.

The Association will relentlessly amplify Bahujan stories across print, digital, audio-visual and social media; forge world-class professionals through rigorous training and mentorship; produce hard-hitting original content – short films, documentaries and viral campaigns – that shatter one-sided mainstream myths; and forge unbreakable alliances with the global Bahujan diaspora to turn local truths into global thunder.

At the helm stands Girish Wankhede, a name that commands respect across the Indian film industry for over two decades. Founder and CEO of Entity One ESPL, CEO of the Jai Bheem Short Video App, and a pioneering force in multiplex exhibition, distribution, marketing and syndication, Wankhede has shaped how India watches cinema. He was among the first to foresee and champion the OTT revolution when theatres went dark. His YouTube channel and chart-topping podcast The Girish Wankhede Show: Aa Dekhe Zara deliver razor-sharp, educational reviews that have become must-watch for millions.

His weekly “WOR – Wankhede OTT Recommendations” and in-depth genre analyses are published in Complete Cinema and quoted by Forbes, The Times of India, Mid-day, Dainik Bhaskar and every major outlet as the definitive voice on box-office reality and industry trends.

Honoured with more than 50 national and international awards – including the prestigious Cotton City Excellence Kala Gaurav Award, Mid-day Icon Award, Tassel Youth Icon Award, and a rare appreciation certificate from late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R.R. Patil for revolutionising Marathi film exhibition in multiplexes – Wankhede also serves on the jury of the Global Indian Film Festival. A celebrated shaayar, columnist, orator and public intellectual, he brings the same incisive intellect and fearless articulation that made him cinema’s most trusted analyst to the battlefield of Bahujan media.

Speaking at the launch, President Girish Wankhede thundered: “The time for scattered voices is over. We are building an organised, professional, and militantly ethical media army that will no longer beg for space in the mainstream – we will seize it, own it, and redefine it. Balanced narratives are not optional; they are non-negotiable. Distorted coverage ends here.”

Dr. Bhimrao Y. Ambedkar, in his capacity as Chief Patron, provided sharp strategic direction and underscored that only rigorous, ethical, and courageous journalism can drive genuine social transformation. The hall reverberated with powerful addresses from stalwarts including Captain  Praveen Nikhade, Subhchan Ram (Retired Income Tax Chief Commissioner), Vijay Maisuria (Gujarat), and other luminaries who declared this launch the beginning of a new chapter in Bahujan assertion.

The event united editors, reporters and creators from Mooknayak, Awaaz India, News Hub, Lord Buddha and beyond, alongside leaders from Samata Sainik Dal, the Republican Party of India, Bharatiya Bauddha Mahasabha and a formidable cross-section of media and civil society. The atmosphere crackled with determination as the Association’s emblem was unveiled to thunderous applause, followed by a reception that symbolised the coming together of intellect, activism and unyielding resolve.

The Bahujan Media Association of India will hit the ground running. Membership drives, capacity-building workshops, content collaborations, investigative projects and international diaspora outreach begin immediately. If mainstream media continues to ignore, distort or erase Bahujan realities, this Association will flood the information ecosystem with superior, fact-driven, high-impact alternatives – forcing accountability, shaping public debate and ensuring that the voices of the marginalised are no longer whispers but a roar that cannot be silenced.

The revolution in representation has begun.
