Dussehra celebration: Ravan's head broke before burning in Patna; 6 people injured in Rajasthan

On Thursday Dussehra was celebrated across the country. President Droupadi Murmu attended the Lav Kush Ramleela organised by the Shri Dharmik Leela Committee at the Red Fort in Delhi. She shot arrows to burn the effigy of Ravana.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not attend the Dussehra event of the Shri Ramleela Committee at Indraprastha due to heavy rainfall in Delhi, and Amit Shah missed the Dussehra programme in Pitampura. People who arrived there stood under chairs and hoardings to shelter from the rain.

In Kota, Rajasthan, the country’s tallest Ravana effigy, measuring 221 feet, was burned. During the burning of Meghnad, an elephant went out of control. In Dig, six people were burnt when fireworks fell on the crowd during Ravana’s statue burning. Meanwhile, in Shri Ganganagar, a young man was injured when the burning statue of Kumbhkaran fell on him.

Patna, Bihar, the tallest Ravana statue in the state, standing 80 feet high, was set on fire at Gandhi Maidan. Due to rain, the head of Ravana had broken.

In Manali, Himachal Pradesh, with the farewell of Hidimba Devi, the international Dussehra festival began in the Kullu Valley. The celebrations started when the procession reached the Dhalpur ground and will continue for seven days.
