Jagran correspondent, East Delhi. On Friday, in the scorching heat, the people of Yamunapar yearned for the water of Delhi Jal Board. It is alleged that without giving prior notice, Delhi Jal Board stopped the water supply from Sonia Vihar Plant. This created an uproar in the area.
Due to Nirjala Ekadashi on Friday and Eid festival on Saturday, people had to face a lot of trouble for water. From morning to afternoon, people kept calling ex-posts and officials and MLAs to ask the reason for non-availability of water.
After facing a lot of trouble, people came to know that water supply was halted due to cleaning of canal in Muradnagar, Uttar Pradesh. Till the time of writing the news, water had not come in many areas including Seelampur, Welcome, Brahmapuri, Chauhan Bangar, Usmanpur, Gandhi Nagar, Kardampuri, Khajuri. Delhi Jal Board has said in its statement that water supply will be fine by Saturday.
Local people were very upset due to non-supply of water from Jal Board. They had to quench their thirst by buying water from the market in the scorching heat. Cleaning of houses could not be done with water on the festival. People had to buy water from the market to distribute cold water on Nirjala Ekadashi.
People suffering from water shortage were seen searching for borewells with buckets in their hands. Due to the stoppage of water supply by the Jal Board, those who are running water plants illegally, have made a lot of money. Due to the lack of water supply throughout the day, people have expressed their anger on the internet media.
It was Ekadashi on Friday. Had to face a lot of trouble for water. When the motor was started in the morning, no water came. Had to buy water from the market. Jal Board and the government department of Uttar Pradesh knew that it was a festival, yet they stopped the supply.
