Big news has come out at this time. ED has arrested former Congress MLA Dharam Singh Choukkar. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Choukkar from Delhi. ED has taken this major action against the former Haryana Congress MLA in the Rs 1500 crore money laundering case. Choukkar is considered close to former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda.
After the arrest, Dharam Singh Choukkar will be produced in court, where ED can seek his remand. So that information about the entire network and other associates can be gathered through interrogation.
Chhoukkar and his company are accused of legalizing (money laundering) illegal money of about Rs 1500 crore under the Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojana. His company Sai Aina Farms is accused of taking crores of rupees from people in exchange for giving them houses in Gurugram. Later, he neither gave houses to the people nor returned the money.
According to ED sources, Choukkar committed fraud in the purchase and sale of land and property in the name of giving cheap houses to the poor under the Deen Dayal Housing Scheme. Crores of rupees were earned illegally under the guise of a government scheme, which was later tried to be made legal by investing in different accounts and properties.

Who is Dharam Singh Choukkar?
Dharam Singh Choukkar has been an MLA from Samalkha assembly constituency of Haryana on a Congress ticket. He has previously been accused of many financial irregularities including land scam. ED has taken this action after collecting strong evidence against him. Earlier also, raids have been carried out at the premises of Choukkar and his family members in which huge amount of documents and evidence of suspicious transactions were recovered.
