FIR against Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal

An FIR has been filed against Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal for allegedly abetting the suicide of an employee. The Bengaluru police have also named the company’s senior executive, Subrat Kumar Das, in the case.

The case initially did not include Aggarwal’s name when it was filed on October 6, but following a request from the deceased engineer’s brother, the FIR was updated to include him under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). So far, neither Aggarwal nor Ola has released an official statement.

The victim, K. Arvind (38), had been employed with Ola Electric since 2022 and died by suicide on September 28. His brother alleged that ₹17.46 lakh was deposited into Arvind’s bank account two days after his death.

According to the brother, Arvind left behind a 28-page suicide note accusing Bhavish Aggarwal and other company officials of mental harassment and withholding salary incentives. “After my brother’s death, ₹17,46,313 was transferred to his account via NEFT. When I asked the company, they told me to contact HR. Later, two representatives visited our home but gave no clear answers about the money,” he said.

DCP Anita B. Haddanavar stated that the incident was initially registered as an unnatural death, but after discovering the suicide note, the case was reclassified and linked directly to Aggarwal based on the family’s complaint. The FIR mentions that Arvind explicitly requested the police to take action against Bhavish Aggarwal and ensure justice.

This development comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Ola Electric. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had previously launched a probe into the company over alleged insider trading and related-party transactions between October and December 2024. Ola has denied the allegations, calling them “false and baseless.”

The controversy surfaced while the company was already being investigated for irregularities in its February 2025 sales report, in which it claimed to have sold 25,000 electric vehicles, securing a 28% share of the electric two-wheeler market
