FIR Filed Over Fake Dog-Counting Circular Claims in Delhi

Delhi Police registered an FIR Friday against unidentified persons for spreading misinformation about a supposed government order directing teachers to count stray dogs, following a complaint from the Directorate of Education.

The complaint accused mischievous elements of fabricating claims on social media to panic teachers and tarnish the department's reputation.

Education Minister Ashish Sood blamed Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal directly, saying the former chief minister falsely tweeted that teachers were being pulled from classrooms for dog census duties. Sood told reporters the DoE lodged the complaint Thursday at Civil Lines police station after spotting viral posts and videos purporting to show teachers counting strays.

The directorate clarified the actual circular merely asked schools to appoint nodal officers to coordinate with municipal authorities on stray dog issues—no counting or field duties for teachers. Officials shared handles spreading the hoax and demanded action against those posing as educators in staged clips.

Sood dismissed AAP's narrative as routine "victim card" politics, vowing legal steps against further falsehoods.  The row highlights escalating pre-election friction between the ruling BJP and opposition AAP in the capital.
