Haryana DGP, Rohtak SP Likely to Be Removed After IPS Officer’s Death: IAS Wife Alleges ‘Murder’; Post-Mortem Still Not Conducted
Digital Desk
The Haryana government is likely to remove DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor and Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya following the alleged suicide of senior IPS officer Y. Pooran Kumar. His wife, IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, has accused several senior officers named in his purported suicide note of abetment, demanding that FIRs be filed and arrests made immediately.
Even three days after his death, the post-mortem of IG Pooran Kumar had not been conducted. His body remains preserved in the Sector-16 Government Hospital mortuary in Chandigarh, under tight police security.
Amneet’s Demand for Justice
Amneet, who had recently returned from an official trip to Japan with Chief Minister Nayab Saini, visited the hospital on Wednesday to see her husband’s body. She submitted a four-page written complaint to the Chief Minister, urging swift and strict action against the officers mentioned in the note.
She described her husband’s death as “not suicide, but a murder.” During her meeting with CM Saini at her Sector-24 residence, which lasted about an hour, Amneet appeared visibly agitated. “The note clearly names those responsible,” she told the CM, demanding:
- FIRs against all accused officers
- Their immediate suspension and arrest
- Permanent security for her family
Her elder daughter, who had been in the United States, has now returned to Chandigarh.
High-Level Meeting at CM’s Residence
Chief Minister Nayab Saini convened a high-level meeting at his Chandigarh residence on Thursday to review the situation. Among those present were Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor, and Minister Krishna Lal Panwar.
According to sources, the government may soon remove DGP Kapoor, with O.P. Singh emerging as the frontrunner for the top post. Orders to this effect could be issued later in the night.
Following the meeting, Kapoor left without addressing the media.
CM Reviews Case After Returning From Japan
Earlier that day, CM Saini had returned from his Japan visit and reviewed the preliminary report on the case at Chandigarh Airport. He was briefed by DGP Kapoor in the presence of Chief Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar.
Later, the CM personally visited Amneet’s residence to pay tribute to the late IG and to assure her that the case would be handled with full transparency.
As investigations continue, mounting pressure from the IPS officer’s family has put the state administration under intense scrutiny. The unresolved post-mortem and unanswered questions around the alleged suicide note have only deepened the controversy surrounding IG Pooran Kumar’s death.
