J&K Govt Shuts Down 48 Tourist Spots Amid Safety Concerns
In a major move, the Jammu and Kashmir government has closed 48 tourist destinations citing security and environmental concerns. Authorities urge travelers to follow official guidelines and prioritize safety during visits to the region.
After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, the Jammu and Kashmir government has taken a big decision. Taking precautionary measures, the government has temporarily closed 48 out of 87 tourist places in the valley. The Omar government has taken this decision on the recommendation of security agencies.
The purpose of this decision is to ensure the safety of tourists and avert any potential danger. Since the Pahalgam attack, there has been a significant decline in the number of tourists in the Kashmir Valley. Srinagar Airport has also seen a significant decrease in the arrival of passengers. According to sources, some sleeper cells have become active in the valley after the Pahalgam attack, they have been instructed to start the activity.
In this case, the administration says that the situation is being constantly monitored and security arrangements are being given priority. The government has assured that as soon as the situation becomes normal, the tourist places will be reopened for tourists.
