Ladakh Accident: Lt Colonel Among 2 Soldiers Martyred

Tragedy struck in Ladakh as a rockfall hit an Army vehicle, leading to the martyrdom of a Lieutenant Colonel and another soldier. Three other officers sustained injuries in the incident.
The country lost two brave sons due to a sudden rock falling on an army vehicle in Ladakh. In this tragic accident, Lieutenant Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh Mankotia, who originally belonged to Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh and was currently settled in Pathankot, attained martyrdom. Along with him, Lance Naik Dafadar Daljit Singh also sacrificed his life while serving the country. Apart from this, three other officers Major Mayank Shubham, Major Amit Dixit and Captain Gaurav have been injured in this tragic incident. Whose treatment is going on. The army and the countrymen have expressed deep condolences on this untimely loss.
Let us tell you that in this accident, martyr Lieutenant Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh Mankotia was awarded the 'Sword of Honor' and Gold Medal at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) for his outstanding military services. He was highly respected in the army for his skill, leadership and courage.
According to the information, the accident happened when the army convoy was going from Durbuk to Chongtash in eastern Ladakh. A Scorpio vehicle in the convoy suddenly came under the grip of a heavy rock that fell from the hill. The accident happened around 11:30 am on Wednesday. The front part of the vehicle was completely buried due to the falling of the rock, due to which the soldiers riding in it were seriously injured.
As soon as the information about the accident was received, the army personnel immediately started the rescue operation and removed the stones and debris and took out the injured. Two soldiers were taken out dead, while the other three injured officers were shifted to 153 Military Hospital in Leh after first aid. They are undergoing treatment there and their condition is said to be stable.
