On the day of the year’s longest and final lunar eclipse, temple doors will remain closed, worship and touching will be restricted, and Kashi’s evening Ganga Aarti will take place in daylight.

Today, i.e. the night of 7 September will be very special from the astronomical and religious point of view across the country. Today, the longest and last full lunar eclipse of the year will occur. Which will be clearly visible all over India. The time of eclipse will start from 09:58 pm to 1:26 pm. At the same time, Sutak will start 9 hours before this. Which will start from 12:57 pm. The doors of temples will remain closed during Sutak and eclipse period. During this time, worship, touching the idol etc. will be prohibited.

In this episode, the doors of Shri Ram temple will also remain closed. At the same time, the evening Ganga Aarti to be held on the ghats of Kashi will also be done by 12 noon. Even before the Sutak period begins, the doors of monasteries and temples across the country and temples established in every house will remain closed. Which will open directly the next day i.e. on September 8 in Brahma Muhurta. Before this, no kind of service will be offered to God.

Prohibitions during eclipse

During the eclipse, devotees should mentally chant, meditate and praise. One should take a bath before the eclipse touch (beginning of the eclipse). After this, sit for chanting or recitation. If possible, continue it till eclipse moksha (end of eclipse). Then take a bath again as soon as the eclipse ends. Let us tell you that Pitru Paksha is also starting on this day, due to which the importance of eclipse increases further. It is believed that the tarpan done at this time satisfies the ancestors quickly and the family gets the blessings of prosperity. Therefore, complete all the Shradh Karma etc. of Purnima by 12 o'clock.

At the same time, entering the temple, idol worship or touching is prohibited for everyone during the eclipse. One should also not sleep during this time. One should chant or recite Guru Mantra as much as possible during the eclipse. If you have not received the Guru Mantra, then remember the name of God. Apart from this, one should also not touch a woman during the eclipse. During this time, eating and drinking is also prohibited. However, patients and elderly people can eat and drink as per their requirement. But they must keep Kusha in their food items. This is necessary. Only then you can eat it during the eclipse.
