Mosque Loudspeakers Removed in Maharashtra: Controversy Erupts
Mumbai
In Maharashtra, the removal of loudspeakers from mosques has sparked controversy. Muslim organizations have accused the police of targeting their community, while SP MLA Abu Asim Azmi has also entered the fray, calling the move unfair and demanding answers from authorities. Tensions rise as political and religious debates intensify.
The issue of removing loudspeakers from mosques in Maharashtra's capital Mumbai (Maharashtra Masjid Loudspeaker Controversy) has taken a political turn. On one hand, a meeting of Muslim leaders was held under the chairmanship of Ajit Pawar. On the other hand, Abu Azmi, the only MLA of SP in Maharashtra, has also jumped into the matter. Kazmi made serious allegations against BJP leader Kirit Somaiy.
In fact, an important meeting was held today (25 June) at around 8:30 am in Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. This meeting focused on the controversy over loudspeakers installed on mosques. NCP leaders Sana Malik, Nawab Malik, Zeeshan Siddiqui, Siddharth Kamble, SP MLA Abu Azmi and AIMIM's Waris Pathan, along with DGP Rashmi Shukla and Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti also attended the meeting.
Muslim organizations alleged that in recent times the police is forcibly removing loudspeakers installed on mosques. They say that the High Court has set a limit of 45 to 56 decibels for sound level, but the police is taking action to remove speakers without any measurement or warning. The organizations clarified that if a mosque violates the rules, then the process of notice or cancellation of license should be adopted. But action without inspection is unfair.
Abu Azmi accuses BJP leader
SP leader Abu Azmi has also entered the case. Abu Azmi made serious allegations against BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. He said that Somaiya has started this campaign and he is pressurizing the police by going to Muslim-dominated areas, especially Govandi. The organizations claim that the local police is being forced to remove the loudspeakers under pressure from Somaiya. For this reason, Muslim representatives decided to have a direct conversation with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Ajit Pawar is the only trustworthy leader in the Mahayuti government: Muslim organizations
Muslim organizations believe that Ajit Pawar is the only leader in the Mahayuti government on whom the Muslim community has faith. Pawar's stance has been secular in cases like demolition of houses in Vishalgarh, murder of a Muslim youth in Satara and Mira Road riots. The organizations hope that Ajit Pawar will take an impartial stand on this issue as well and will curb the alleged arbitrariness of the police.
