MP Minister Vijay Shah's Arrest Ban Extended, Supreme Court Grants SIT More Time

The Supreme Court has extended the arrest ban on Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah while granting additional time to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for its ongoing inquiry. Interim stay on arrest of Madhya Pradesh's Tribal Affairs Minister Vijay Shah continues. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court has given more time to the SIT team for investigation. SIT had sought more time in SC. So far, statements of 7 people have been recorded in Minister Vijay's case. The video of Vijay Shah's statement has been sent to FSL for investigation.

Actually, Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Shah had made objectionable remarks on Colonel Sofia Qureshi in a program organized in Raikunda village of Mhow, Indore on May 12. He had said that 'Pakistanis took off the clothes of the people of our country, but we sent their sister of society (Colonel Sofia Qureshi) and got them beaten up.'

Called her the sister of terrorists

Vijay Shah had further said that 'the terrorists had said to tell Modi that they killed our Hindus and took off their clothes. That's why Modi ji sent his sister in our army plane, so that she can teach him a lesson.'

FIR on HC's instructions, SIT formed on Supreme Court's order

After this statement of Minister Vijay, there was an uproar from Madhya Pradesh to the whole country. The High Court took suo motu cognizance and directed to register an FIR against Vijay Shah within 4 hours. On the instructions of HC, a case was registered in Manpur police station of Mhow, Indore under three serious sections 152, 196(1)(b) and 197(1)(c) of the Indian Penal Code.

Next hearing will be in July

The minister knocked the door of the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court. But the Supreme Court also reprimanded and ordered to form an SIT in the hearing on May 19. After the order of the Supreme Court, the government formed a team of IPS IG Sagar Pramod Verma, DIG Special Armed Force Kalyan Chakraborty and SP Dindori Vahini Singh. The SIT team investigated and presented its report today on Wednesday and asked for more time. Now the hearing of this case will be held in the first week of July.
