Namo Bharat’ to be fastest on Delhi-Meerut route

The high-speed ‘Namo Bharat’ train will set new records on the Delhi-Meerut corridor.

Namo Bharat train has become the fastest train in the country, running at its highest speed of 160 kmph on the 55 km long section of Delhi-Meerut Rapid Transit System. The Railway Ministry decided to reduce their speed from 160 kmph to 130 kmph on 24 June 2024 without giving any reason.

Will run at its highest speed of 160 kmph

Earlier, Gatiman Express, launched in 2016, was the country's first semi-high speed train, running at a speed of 160 kmph between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Agra. Later when Vande Bharat train was launched, it also runs at the same maximum speed.

However, the Railway Ministry decided to reduce their speed from 160 kmph to 130 kmph on June 24, 2024 without giving any reason. Currently, all trains on the Indian Railways network operate at the upper speed limit of 130 kmph.

NaMo Bharat Ki Thirty trains with six coaches will run

NaMo Bharat Ki Thirty trains with six coaches will run between New Ashok Nagar in East Delhi and Meerut South in Uttar Pradesh. They will run at an interval of 15 minutes from each station and touch their maximum speed of 160 kmph for a few seconds between the 11 stations on the route.

Train will start from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi

National Capital Regional Transport Corporation Limited (NCRTC) officials said that the entire 82.15 km long corridor with 16 stations starting from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh is likely to be operational soon.
