New Delhi Metro Corridor from Lajpat Nagar Finalized

Delhi Metro’s new corridor has been finalized, starting from Lajpat Nagar and passing through 7 key stations. This development promises improved connectivity and faster travel for thousands of daily commuters in South and Central Delhi.

The railway administration has made an important announcement for the people of Delhi, under which a new corridor will be developed. This corridor will be part of the fourth phase of Delhi Metro, which will extend from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block. A total of 7 stations will be built on this route, and the completion period of this project has been fixed at 3 years. This step has been taken with the aim of strengthening the modern public transportation system and providing a better travel experience to the people of Delhi.

The responsibility of the Delhi Metro project has been handed over to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for the first time. RVNL has shared information about this new corridor, mentioning various stations located on the route. Apart from this, it has also been told that an elevated viaduct will be constructed on this route, and all 7 stations will be developed as elevated platforms. This means that all stations will be located on a bridge or other structure above the road surface.

This metro route will include Saket G-Block, Pushp Vihar, Saket District Center, Pushp Bhawan, Chirag Delhi, Greater Kailash-1 (GK-1), Andrews Ganj and Lajpat Nagar stations. A three-coach metro will operate on this route, with each coach carrying 300 passengers at a time. All stations will be relatively small, with one station being 74 meters long. Thus, the construction of these stations will reduce both time and cost.

It will cost Rs 447.42 crore

This elevated corridor will be about 7.3 km long, and its cost is estimated to be around Rs 447.42 crore. The Managing Director of RVNL said that this project is in line with DMRC's vision of a world-class urban transport system. This is an important opportunity to contribute to Delhi's urban infrastructure. We are committed to complete this project with excellence, safety and innovation.
