The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India will conduct a two-day Open Hearing and Camp Sitting in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on September 2 and 3, 2026, to hear cases involving alleged human rights violations in the state.
According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the proceedings will bring together NHRC officials, complainants and concerned state authorities. The Commission will also examine alleged cases of bonded labour and hold discussions with senior Gujarat government officials on human rights-related issues.
The camp sitting is aimed at providing victims and complainants with faster access to the Commission and expediting the resolution of human rights complaints.
Hearing Begins On September 2
The hearing will begin at 10:30 am on September 2 at the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar.
NHRC Chairperson Justice V Ram Subramanian and members Justice (Dr) Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi and Vijaya Bharathi Sayani will hear cases in the presence of complainants and relevant state authorities.
The full Commission will consider the cases assigned to it during the first day's proceedings.
The participation of both complainants and government officials is intended to facilitate direct consideration of the issues raised before the Commission.
Bonded Labour Cases On Agenda
On September 3, NHRC Chairperson Justice V Ram Subramanian will hear alleged cases of bonded labour in Gujarat.
The issue of bonded labour remains an important human rights concern because affected workers can face restrictions on their freedom, exploitation and denial of basic labour rights.
The Commission's focus on such complaints will provide an opportunity to examine the cases directly and seek responses from the relevant authorities.
NHRC Bench To Hear Complaints
