Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called on students to view education as an engaging journey rather than a burden, as he interacted with young participants during the ninth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha at his residence in New Delhi. Addressing students from across the country, the Prime Minister emphasised that academic knowledge and practical skills must progress together to shape confident, capable individuals.
The annual interaction, launched in 2018 to help students manage exam stress, focused this year on holistic learning, responsible use of technology and long-term national aspirations. Modi said education should not be reduced to marks alone, urging students to pursue excellence by actively involving themselves in the learning process. “Incomplete education is not valuable,” he told participants, stressing that meaningful engagement is key to lasting understanding.
During the session, the Prime Minister encouraged students to dream of contributing to a developed India by the time the country completes 100 years of independence in 2047. Drawing inspiration from freedom fighters, he said today’s youth would be at the forefront of shaping the nation’s future and should align their personal goals with national progress.
Responding to questions on confidence and stress, Modi said self-belief comes from truth and experience rather than external validation. He advised students to pause, reflect and practise brief moments of mindfulness to regain focus. On time management, he suggested maintaining a daily plan and reviewing progress regularly, describing disciplined use of time as a powerful tool to reduce anxiety.
The Prime Minister also cautioned students against rote learning, urging them to focus on conceptual clarity. He noted that true understanding not only improves performance but also reduces exam-related pressure. Addressing the growing influence of technology, Modi encouraged students to use artificial intelligence responsibly, describing it as a tool that can expand learning if applied with care and purpose.
Pariksha Pe Charcha has evolved into a large-scale national platform involving students, teachers and parents. The eighth edition, held in February 2025, set a Guinness World Record with participation from across India and abroad. Registrations have grown sharply since its inception, reflecting its expanding reach and relevance.
The next episode of the ninth edition will be released on February 9 at 10 am and will be broadcast on DD News and official education portals. As the programme continues, the government hopes the initiative will further help students approach examinations with confidence, balance and a positive outlook.
