PM Modi Chairs High-Level Security Meet After Red Fort Blast

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to assess the situation following the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed 12 people and left 21 injured.

The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s residence, was attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Officials said the CCS reviewed intelligence inputs, ongoing investigations, and the government’s broader security strategy in the wake of the attack.

Sources indicated that reports from central security agencies were discussed, along with measures to strengthen surveillance and prevent further incidents in the capital. The meeting also examined preliminary findings that link the explosion to a suspected “doctors’ terror module” with arrests made in Haryana, Kashmir, and Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi visited Delhi’s LNJP Hospital soon after returning from a two-day visit to Bhutan. He met the injured victims and interacted with medical staff to review their treatment. “Those behind this conspiracy will not be spared,” the Prime Minister reportedly told doctors during the visit.

The Red Fort blast, which occurred on November 10, has prompted heightened security across Delhi, with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) assisting local police. Investigators are probing the use of improvised explosives and the possible role of sleeper cells operating under medical cover.

Wednesday’s CCS meeting is the second such security review this year, following a similar session convened before Operation Sindoor and another after the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Officials said the government is expected to announce additional security measures in sensitive zones over the coming days.
