PM Modi to attend India Maritime Week 2025: Focus on Blue Economy and global maritime cooperation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today address the Maritime Leaders Conclave and chair the Global Maritime CEO Forum during India Maritime Week 2025 at the Nesco Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. The event, running from October 27 to 31 with the theme “Uniting Oceans, One Maritime Vision (Sagar Ek, Drishti Ek)”, aims to strengthen India’s position as a global hub for the Blue Economy.

Delegates from over 85 countries, along with 1 lakh participants, 500 exhibitors, and 350 international speakers, are taking part in the summit, which will focus on sustainable maritime growth, green shipping, supply chain resilience, and port-led development.

The Global Maritime CEO Forum, a key highlight of the week, will bring together CEOs of leading shipping companies, investors, policymakers, and innovators to discuss four core goals of the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047port-led growth, shipbuilding, logistics efficiency, and maritime skill development.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “I will participate in the ongoing India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai and address the Maritime Leaders Conclave. I will also chair the Global Maritime CEO Forum. This is an excellent platform to enhance cooperation in the maritime sector and highlight India’s reforms.”

Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the event on October 27, emphasizing that the Great Nicobar Island Development Project, worth $5 billion (₹42,000 crore), will significantly boost India’s maritime trade and strategic capabilities. He underlined India’s democratic stability and its role as a bridge between the Indo-Pacific and the Global South.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal stated that India Maritime Week 2025 marks a major leap from the 2023 summit and expressed confidence that India will be among the world’s top five shipbuilding nations by 2047, driven by strong policies, infrastructure, and business confidence.
