PM Modi to hoist tricolor at Red Fort for 12th time on 79th Independence Day

On the 79th Independence Day, PM Narendra Modi will hoist the tricolor at the Red Fort for the 12th consecutive time. This year’s ceremony will see Agniveers in the national anthem band for the first time, with the invitation card featuring the ‘Operation Sindoor’ logo.

The country will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on 15 August 2025. On this occasion, PM Narendra Modi will hoist the national flag at the Red Fort in Delhi and address the nation. This time the theme is 'New India'. Many records will be made on the 79th Independence Day, while many new things will be seen. PM Modi will hoist the tricolor at the Red Fort for the 12th consecutive time. He will become the second Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister to do so. Along with this, he will also break Indira Gandhi's record of hoisting the flag at the Red Fort as Prime Minister for the second most number of times.

This year, for the first time, 11 Agniveers will take part in the band playing the national anthem. Also, there will be a logo of Operation Sindoor and a watermark of Chenab Bridge on the invitation card. Which shows the rise of 'New India'.

The National Flag Guard, which will consist of one officer each from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Delhi Police and 32 other rank personnel, will give the national salute when the Prime Minister hoists the national flag. Wing Commander Tarun Dagar will command this inter-service guard and police guard.

Flower decoration will also be on the theme of Operation Sindoor

This year, the success of Operation Sindoor will be celebrated during the Independence Day celebrations. The view cutter on Gyanpath will have the logo of Operation Sindoor. The flower decoration will also be based on the operation. The invitation cards will also have the logo of Operation Sindoor. The invitation cards will also have a watermark of the Chenab Bridge, which shows the rise of 'New India' After the shower of flower petals, the Prime Minister will address the nation. At the conclusion of the speech, cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and 'Mera Bharat' volunteers will sing the national anthem.

For the first time, 11 Agniveers are included in the National Anthem Band

In the National Flag Guard, the Army contingent will be commanded by Major Prakash Singh, the Navy contingent will be commanded by Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Parvez and the Air Force contingent will be commanded by Squadron Leader VV Sharavan. The Delhi Police contingent will be commanded by Additional DCP Abhimanyu Poswal. Junior Warrant Officer M Deka will conduct the band.
