Supreme Court Withdraws Own Order Criticising Allahabad HC Judge

he Supreme Court has withdrawn its earlier order in which it made strong observations against a judge of the Allahabad High Court, effectively retracting its comments.

The Supreme Court removed the comment made on Allahabad High Court judge Prashant Kumar which criticized him for allowing criminal proceedings in a civil dispute case. The court said that it did not intend to embarrass him. The court took this decision after the request of Chief Justice BR Gavai.

The Supreme Court on Friday, August 8, removed its comment on Allahabad High Court judge Prashant Kumar in which it criticized him for allowing criminal proceedings in a civil dispute case. The court said that it did not intend to embarrass him or accuse him.

A bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan reiterated that these comments were made to maintain the dignity of the judiciary.

SC removed the comment against Allahabad High Court judge

The Supreme Court said that it was removing these comments after Chief Justice BR Gavai requested to reconsider the matter. The apex court, while acknowledging that the Chief Justice of the High Court is the master of the roster, left the right to decide in this matter to him.
