First Decide Your Party…’: Muralidharan Mocks Tharoor After Subtle Hint at Chief Ministerial Aspiration
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor shared a survey yesterday, in which he was described as the most popular leader for the post of Chief Minister of Kerala. There has been a political uproar over this. Senior Congress leader K. Muralidharan took a jibe at his own party leader and said that Tharoor should first decide which party he belongs to.
In fact, Tharoor expressed his desire to become CM in gestures, on which Muralidharan took a dig.
Muralidharan, while reacting to Shashi Tharoor's ex-post, told reporters, "Even if someone else is leading in the survey, but if UDF comes to power in the 2026 assembly elections, the Chief Minister will be from UDF only. Our goal is to win the election. We have no interest in such unnecessary controversies." 'Whatever the survey says, but...'
He further said that there are many senior leaders in the Kerala unit of Congress, who will be considered for the post of Chief Minister, no matter what any survey says. Muralidharan said that the party has a framework of rules, according to which it will be decided who will be the next Chief Minister.
Actually, this statement of Muralidharan has come at a time when there is a tussle between the Congress party and Shashi Tharoor. Shashi Tharoor openly supported Operation Sindoor launched after the Pahalgam terrorist attack and was also a part of the all-party delegation sent abroad. On many occasions, he has also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which the party did not like.
A private agency has conducted a survey, in which 28.3 percent of the people believe that Tharoor is the most suitable leader to lead the state. Tharoor also shared this survey on the social media platform X and also added a folded hands emoji. Let us tell you that assembly elections are going to be held in Kerala next year. The term of the government led by CM Pinarayi Vijayan is about to end.
