From a young age, Sagar carried an entrepreneurial mindset. While pursuing his education at St. Gabriel Senior Secondary School and later moving to Kota in 2011, he faced financial constraints that pushed him to work alongside his studies. Starting as a salesman and eventually working at Crossword Bookstore, he found himself surrounded by stories and unknowingly, closer to his purpose.

It was here that a realization struck him.

He observed two gaps students struggling to find meaningful reading habits and aspiring authors struggling to find visibility. This intersection of problems sparked a vision: to build a platform that could connect readers and writers in a meaningful way.

At just 21, he committed himself to this path. And at 26, he made a bold decision leaving his only job to pursue his vision full-time. This led to the creation of Champ Readers, an association dedicated to promoting emerging writers in India.

What started as an idea soon grew into a movement.

Through Champ Readers, Sagar began organizing large-scale book launch events in Kota, each attracting nearly 2,500 students—an unprecedented achievement in the literary space. These events not only created visibility for authors but also cultivated a strong reading culture among youth. Over time, he worked with renowned authors like Amish Tripathi, Durjoy Datta, Ravinder Singh, Nikita Singh, Sudeep Nagarkar, Savi Sharma, and many more, bringing literature closer to readers in an engaging and accessible way.

Building a Publishing Vision

In January 2021, Sagar took another significant step by founding Anecdote Publishing House, a platform designed to connect quality readers with quality writers globally.

Unlike traditional publishing models, Anecdote was built with a broader vision to create an ecosystem. From writers and editors to designers and marketers, the platform ensures that every stakeholder contributes to delivering high-quality literature. It operates on four strong values: encouragement, enablement, equality, and quality.

Through print, e-books, and audiobooks, the company aims to make literature more accessible while giving authors the professional support they need to grow.

Recognition and Impact

Sagar Azad’s work has not gone unnoticed. His journey and contributions have been featured in leading publications such as Hindustan Times, Rajasthan Patrika, Dainik Jagran, and The Pioneer, among others.

He has also received multiple prestigious awards, including the Rajdhani Gaurav Award, Achievers Icon Award, Young Achievers Award, Icons of Asia Award (Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2022), and the Pride of Nation Award 2023 for Best Startup in the Literature and Publishing Industry.

Additionally, being recognized under the 35 Under 35 achievers category further highlights his growing influence as a literary entrepreneur.
