Weather Alert: Heavy Rain in 8 States, Delhi on Watch

The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in eight states of the country including Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, an orange alert has also been issued for Delhi. Monsoon has reached most parts of the country and it is likely to spread across the country in the coming two days. Many accidents have also happened in the country due to heavy rains. A child was swept away in a drain in Muzaffarnagar, UP. At the same time, a person died due to lightning in Ballia.
The Meteorological Department has issued a 'Yellow' alert for Delhi for Monday, forecasting light to moderate rain, thundershowers and strong winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kmph. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the maximum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 36.2 degrees Celsius, which is 1.3 degrees below the average of this season. The minimum temperature was 28.4 degrees Celsius, while the relative humidity was 78 per cent at 5.30 pm. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's air quality was recorded in the 'satisfactory category' at 4 pm on Sunday. The Air Quality Index (AQI) here was 98.
Orange alert in eight states
The IMD has issued an orange alert for eight states, warning of heavy rains. The alert includes Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh. The IMD had already warned of heavy to very heavy rains in northwest India, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Konkan-Goa region from June 21 to June 26. According to the IMD, the monsoon may cover the entire country in the next two days.
Orange alert in four districts of Bihar
An alert has been issued predicting heavy to very heavy rains in many districts of Bihar. There is an orange alert at some places in West Champaran, East Champaran, Kishanganj, Araria districts. There is a yellow alert for heavy rain at some places in Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Madhubani, Supaul districts. There is a possibility of rain in entire Bihar on Monday. However, there is a possibility of more rain in North Bihar than in South Bihar.
