XLRI: A Realm Where Culture Meets Academia

Beyond its reputation as one of India’s most prestigious B-schools, XLRI – Xavier Institute of Management – stands as a living embodiment of knowledge, ethics, and cultural harmony. Founded on Jesuit values, the institute nurtures excellence grounded in integrity, inclusivity, and social awareness.

While XLRI is often viewed as a hub where students immerse themselves in debates, case studies, and management theories, the campus also thrives as a microcosm of India’s cultural landscape.

Fondly known as “mini-India,” it brings together bright minds from every corner of the country — and beyond. Celebrating this diversity are the dynamic regional committees that infuse campus life with colour, tradition, and togetherness.

Celebrating Diversity, One Region at a Time

Each committee represents a region’s identity through vibrant festivals, food, art, and performances. Their quirky names — like APAXI, JMAXI, and KAIRALI — add an element of humour and camaraderie that defines the XLRI spirit.

ODAXI (Odisha Association at XLRI)

ODAXI brings Odisha’s grandeur to campus through its Rath Yatra celebration, including a mini-chariot procession and serene puja of Lord Jagannath. Traditional dishes such as Chakuli Pitha, Dalma, and Rasgulla mark the occasion, offering a flavorful glimpse into Odisha’s spiritual heritage.

JMAXI (Jai Maharashtra Association of XLRI)

The JMAXI committee recreates the devotional energy of Ganesh Chaturthi. Aartis led by faculty members and students fill the air with chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya,” followed by Puran Poli and Shrikhand that spread both sweetness and unity.

RAJAXI (Rajasthani Association of XLRI)

RAJAXI celebrates Sindhara/Teej with grand hospitality, folk dances, and a royal feast featuring Dal Baati Churma, Gatte ki Sabzi, and Laal Maas. Members don colourful turbans and bandhej dupattas, turning the campus into a festive corner of Rajasthan.

SPAXI (Sher-e-Punjab Association of XLRI)

From the northern belt, SPAXI celebrates Lohri around bonfires, laughter, and Bhangra beats. The feast — complete with Makki di Roti, Sarson da Saag, and Jalebi-Rabri — exemplifies Punjab’s warmth and high spirits.

ROBAXI (Royal Bengal Association at XLRI)
ROBAXI honours Bengal’s rich artistry through Saraswati Puja and Durga Puja. The celebrations are complete with Khichuri, Beguni, Kosha Mangsho, and poetry sessions that echo Bengal’s love of culture and intellect.

KAIRALI (Kerala Association of XLRI)

KAIRALI celebrates Onam with traditional Kaikottikali dance and the grand Sadhya feast served on banana leaves. The campus glows in white and gold as students embrace Kerala’s timeless grace and warmth.

COWBAXI (Cowbelt Association of XLRI)

Representing central and northern India, COWBAXI lights up the campus during Diwali and Holi. From Gujias and Thandai to eco-friendly festivals, its celebrations foster friendship and shared joy.

TAXI, THEPLAXI, and APAXI

These committees showcase the cultural flavours of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh respectively — from Sambar Rice and Dhokla to spicy Ugadi feasts — adding their own essence to the XLRI kaleidoscope.

A Home Beyond Classrooms

The regional committees do more than host festivals; they create belonging. They turn campus life into a celebration of empathy, unity, and shared growth. Every ritual, meal, and melody reminds students that learning extends far beyond books — it lives in understanding others and growing together.

At XLRI, culture and intellect walk hand in hand. The institute isn’t just a B-school — it’s a home that shapes leaders who carry not just wisdom, but humanity, into the world.
