‘Satish Poonia & I Were Betrayed,’ Says Rajendra Rathore; BJP State Chief Retorts

At the launch of former BJP Rajasthan state president Satish Poonia’s book ‘Agnipath Nahi Janpath’ (From Dialogue to Struggle) on Sunday, political leaders reflected on past experiences, subtly referencing events through the metaphor of a game of snakes and ladders.
Rajendra Rathore, former Leader of Opposition, remarked:
"Satish Poonia and I share a similarity. Both of us were bitten by the snake in the game of snakes and ladders when we were at eighty-seven."
Rathore’s comment alluded to both him and Poonia losing the 2023 assembly elections.
Madan Rathore added humorously:
"How could you forget me? You didn’t remember me in the game of snakes and ladders. Poonia ji and Rajendra Rathore ji, don’t separate this Rathore. In 2008, perhaps Rajendra Rathore ‘bit’ me, and in 2018, Satish Poonia did the same."
He continued, "This game of snakes and ladders goes on; it’s nothing new. Tikaram Jully is left. The game will continue, and it should continue."
Punjab Governor Gulabchand Kataria formally unveiled Poonia’s book at the Constitution Club, with a large gathering of BJP leaders in attendance.
Comments on Rajya Sabha Seats
Madan Rathore noted he has always cleared the path for Poonia and will continue to do so. Taking a dig at Rajendra Rathore, he mentioned Ghanshyam Tiwari, hinting that he might enter Rajya Sabha after being “taken out of the cage.” Two Rajasthan Rajya Sabha seats are set to become vacant next June.
Tikaram Jully on Impartiality
Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully praised the impartiality of Gulabchand Kataria and Satish Poonia while hinting at underlying political tensions, though he chose not to name others, saying some secrets are better left unrevealed.
On Youth Politics
Rathore commented on the changing political landscape:
"The capital is now filled with congratulatory posters for young leaders. Satish Poonia, I noticed you walking with blisters on your feet. In this era, some leaders are born with hoardings and fancy cars. Your book, written by a dedicated worker, will inspire the youth."
The event highlighted both political camaraderie and subtle jabs, with leaders using humor and metaphors to reflect on past betrayals and current dynamics within the party.
