Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid has publicly commended the Modi government's decision to revoke Article 370, stating that it has brought prosperity and reduced separatism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Interacting with members of Indonesian think tanks and academics as part of the all-party Indian parliamentary delegation, he said that the abolition of Article 370 has ended the long-standing problem of separatism in Jammu and Kashmir.

'A big problem has ended'

Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid said that there was a big problem in Kashmir for a long time. Much of it was reflected in the government's thinking called Article 370 of the Constitution, which somehow gave the impression that it was separate from the rest of the country. But Article 370 was repealed and finally abolished.

Let us tell you that Salman Khurshid, along with the all-party delegation led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, also said that there has been progress in the post-abolition environment in Jammu and Kashmir. During this, he cited the turnout of 65 percent voters in the subsequent elections and the formation of an elected government in the Union Territory.

Khurshid said that after this, elections were held with 65 percent participation. Today there is an elected government in Kashmir, and therefore, it would not be fair to abolish everything that brought prosperity to Kashmir for the people.
