The 10th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog has started today at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the theme of which has been kept as "From Developed State to Developed India @ 2047". However, the Chief Ministers of some big states are not present in this important meeting, including Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Kerala Chief Minister Vijayan.
In the meeting, the states have been directed to prepare long-term and inclusive development plans according to their resources and geography, so that India can be established as a developed nation by 2047. In this process, the need to focus on important areas like human development, economic growth, sustainable livelihood, technology and good governance has been emphasized.
The Center has made it clear that the states will have to use data-based methodology, project monitoring units and ICT-enabled infrastructure to bring result-based reforms.

Mamata, Siddaramaiah and Kerala CM kept distance
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee did not attend the NITI Aayog meeting. According to sources, she neither decided to go to Delhi nor sent any representative. This is not the first time that Mamata Banerjee has registered absence in such a meeting.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah could not attend this meeting. Sources close to him said that this is not any kind of boycott, but the Chief Minister's absence was due to his pre-scheduled visit to Mysore. He has sent his statement to Delhi, but it is not clear who will represent him in the meeting.
