A stampede at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay Rupani's rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, left 40 people dead and around 100 injured. DMK MP Kanimozhi targeted actor Vijay Rupani. The TVK has accused the DMK of criminal conspiracy and filed a petition in the Madras High Court to form an SIT.
A day after the stampede at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay Rupani's rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, left 40 people dead and around 100 injured. DMK MP Kanimozhi targeted actor Vijay Rupani.
Kanimozhi said, "We did not run away. It seems she was implying that the TVK chief was missing when the incident occurred."
According to NDTV, Kanimozhi stressed that blaming anyone is insensitive. A commission has been formed and we should leave it to them. Now we must take care of the safety of the people.
TVK accuses DMK of conspiracy
TVK has accused the DMK of criminal conspiracy regarding the stampede that occurred during TVK Chief Vijay's rally. A DMK lawyer stated that the party has filed a petition in the Madras High Court, urging the court to form an SIT or hand over the case to the CBI.
TVK's legal wing state coordinator Arivazhagan said they will raise the matter before the Madurai bench of the High Court tomorrow. He told NDTV, "There was a conspiracy, a criminal conspiracy, in the Karur incident, so we have requested the High Court to investigate the matter independently, not by any state agency."
40 people died in stampede at rally
Forty people died and about 100 were injured in a stampede at TVK chief Vijay's rally in Veluswamipuram, Karur. Tamil Nadu Police DGP G. Venkataraman has admitted that despite the unexpectedly large crowd, 500 policemen were deployed at the rally site.
