Akhilesh Yadav Calls Bihar Election “Looting,” Accuses BJP of Misusing Voter Revision

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday escalated his criticism of the Bihar Assembly election, alleging that the process amounted to “looting” rather than mere electoral malpractice. Speaking at the launch of the Vision India initiative in Bengaluru, Yadav accused the BJP of manipulating institutions and selectively targeting booths where it had previously performed poorly.
Addressing the gathering, Yadav claimed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list was being disproportionately conducted at booths where the BJP had historically lost. “This is not just theft; it is looting,” he said, adding that the party’s complaints to the Election Commission had gone unanswered.
He also argued that Aadhaar should be used to strengthen the credibility of the voter revision process. “The government created Aadhaar but refuses to rely on it during revision. Why?” he asked.
Yadav used the Bengaluru platform to formally launch Vision India, describing it as a youth-driven, inclusive mission aimed at promoting innovation and equitable growth. He said the initiative sought to counter “negativity and division” with a forward-looking agenda centred on opportunity, unity, and social justice. Bengaluru, he added, represented the “ideal launchpad” because of its innovation ecosystem and leadership in the startup sector.
During the interaction, Yadav also commented on alliance politics and the INDIA bloc, saying regional parties should lead in states where they are strongest. He praised Tejashwi Yadav as the “youth face” of the Bihar election and said the Mahagathbandhan had run a positive campaign despite limited resources.
The SP chief further accused the Centre of imposing what he termed an “emergency on Hindustaniyat,” warning that India’s pluralistic identity was under strain. He urged young people to embrace entrepreneurship, saying “every startup is a solution” in a state like Uttar Pradesh, where challenges persist across sectors.
The SP will continue to analyse booth-level data from Bihar, Yadav said, hinting at an intensified challenge to the Election Commission’s handling of the process.
