The Election Commission on February 10 released the final electoral roll after completing the Special Revision 2026 exercise. The updated list records 2,49,58,139 registered voters, down from 2,52,01,624 in the draft roll. Officials said 2,43,485 names were removed during verification due to death, relocation, duplication, or ineligibility. The final list includes 1,24,82,213 male voters, 1,24,75,583 female voters, and 343 third-gender voters.
Earlier draft rolls published in December 2025 had already removed over 10.56 lakh entries, including more than 93,000 “D-voters,” whose citizenship status remains under scrutiny and who are barred from voting pending tribunal decisions.
Election administrators say completion of voter verification marks the transition into full election mode, with deployment planning and security coordination underway. The coming weeks are expected to see intensified campaigning, alliance negotiations, and candidate announcements as parties prepare for what is projected to be one of the most closely watched state contests of the year.
