Rahul Gandhi targeted the Modi government over Trump's tariff move, alleging the PM can't stand up to him due to ties with Adani, sparking fresh political debate.
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not retaliating to US President Donald Trump's latest threat of imposing more punitive taxes after imposing 25 percent trade duty on India.
The Congress leader also alleged that PM Modi is unable to stand up to him despite Trump's repeated threats due to the ongoing investigation in the case of industrialist Adani in the US. Before the US announced additional tax on Wednesday in accordance with Trump's threats, the Leader of Opposition took a dig at PM Modi by raising the issue of India not giving a vocal response to it.
Rahul Gandhi said in a post on X, 'India, please understand, Prime Minister Modi is unable to stand up to President Trump despite his repeated threats. The reason for this is the ongoing US investigation against Adani. There is a threat to expose the financial links between Modi, AA and Russian oil deals. Modi's hands are tied.'
After this jibe by the Leader of Opposition, many party leaders including Congress Digital Media Department head Supriya Srinet and former Youth Congress president BV Srinivas started targeting the PM on this issue. Srinet said that PM Modi remained silent even on Trump's claim of ceasefire 34 times, Trump invited Pakistan's executioner Asim Munir to a dinner and is comparing Pakistan with terrorists.
He said that not only this, Trump is insulting us every day by calling India a traitor but PM Modi is silent, which clearly shows that he is weak and scared. Srinivas said that when the country is ruled by a weak Prime Minister, everyone starts showing their place and the same is happening with India.
